Our faces naturally change as we age, but if you’re interested in restoring some volume, we’re here to help. Whether you’re looking to plump sagging skin, fill newly-forming hollows, or smooth out some wrinkles, modern dermal fillers are like magic. They can even minimize facial scars.
Here at AK Beautiful You, we’re proud to offer both Juvéderm (including Voluma, Volbella and Vollure products) as well as Restylane to clients looking to restore a more youthful appearance. When you come to a consultation, we’ll discuss your desired result and conduct a thorough examination of your unique facial characteristics and underlying bone structure.
From there, we’ll explain the different injectable fillers available, talk about the appropriate dosage for your needs, educate you about possible side effects, and go ahead with the treatment. For now, here’s a straightforward introduction to the different types of products we use.

WHAT IS JUVÉDERM?
Juvéderm is an injectable dermal filler that has a base of hyaluronic acid. Put simply, hyaluronic acid is a type of sugar naturally found in our bodies that holds water and keeps our skin looking plump. Don’t let the word “acid” fool you – it’s a gel-like substance that keeps the skin fresh.
Juvéderm is typically used to restore facial contours and fight aging in the face, focusing on the cheeks, lips and mouth. It’s a great way to temporarily add volume without surgery. The effects often last as long as 18 months, but we recommend scheduling a follow-up appointment every year to ensure you’re happy with the results and they continue to suit your face.
Juvéderm has a range of different products. Here at AK Beautiful You, we’re proud to offer Juvéderm’s premier XC line, which includes Lidocaine. This is a common local anesthetic that alleviates much of the discomfort your injections may cause.
As we mentioned above, Juvéderm has three filler options: Voluma, Volbella and Vollure. They all use a hyaluronic gel to add plumpness to your face, but they each have a slightly different molecular structure, creating different thicknesses that achieve different results. This means your injector can select exactly the right product to suit your skin type and your goal.
Voluma: This is the thickest, strongest gel. It can be used to target severe folds (such as smile lines) or injected into the cheeks for a lift.
Volbella: This is the thinnest, most spreadable option. It suits delicate skin, such as the lips and around the eyes, but doesn’t last as long.
Vollure: This is a happy medium. It’s designed to mix longevity with flexibility while allowing for natural facial expressions and movement.
The best option for you depends on a number of factors, including your facial structure and your desired goal. It’s important to do your research and visit an experienced injector. Ask to see a portfolio of their work, so you can make sure their style aligns with your vision, and make sure they’re a qualified medical professional. That will ensure you achieve your dream result.

WHAT IS RESTYLANE?
Restylane is a dermal filler that also has a base of hyaluronic acid. It’s specifically formulated to act like the hyaluronic acid your body produces naturally, helping correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. It’s very similar to Juvéderm, but is generally slightly cheaper. Depending on your skin, you may find the results last for about 6-18 months instead of 12-18 months.
POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
All dermal fillers have a chance of causing minor side effects, which your injector will discuss with you during your consultation. These can include bruising, redness and swelling. You may also experience some lumps and bumps, as well as minor pain, but these should subside.
